Scrapbooking ideas for my boyfriend of one year?

I've been dating my boyfriend for almost a year now, and I'm planning to make him a scrapbook for our anniversary. I'm looking to include stuff from when we first started dating, things we're interested in, and other stuff like that. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can put in this scrapbook? Also, I know that I shouldn't include sparkles, pastel colors, ribbons, or any other girly craft things. I'm not planning to make it extremely girly/cutesy and romantic.

1. That's a nice idea and all but I don't think guys would really appreciate the time and effort and feelings that would go into making a scrapbook like this. So I would do something else for the anniversary but that's just me!

2. I reckon you would know if your boyfriend would like a scrapbook or not and I have personally seen male family members scrap, value scrapbooks made by special people in their lives and appreciate the time and effort people put into albums, so I think it's a great idea.

Craft shops often have scrapbook classes you can attend where you can get some good coaching for how to make a scrapbook. Online you can get help with starting out as well and these links may be of use to you:

Also, here is a page about masculine card ideas. The ideas hold true for scrapbooks:

I would tend to look for a theme to stick to with your scrapbook, or choose a certain colour range at least. Have a look at your photos and decide which colours would enhance them the best, then choose about three main colours to use that coordinate with each other. This will help you choose the cardstock and designer papers/embellishments.

I would also look for some good quotes or sayings to add to the pages as headings or journaling. You can find lots of good quotes here:

Another thing I would be sure to do is to journal (write the story of the photos or events) in my own handwriting. That makes it much more personal and shows the time you have put into thinking about the scrapbook and how much you want to make something special and unique for your boyfriend.

You can add things like the lyrics to songs you both like, use tickets to events you have gone to in the album, add photos of your special places/people/events, include emails or letters you have written to each other, and perhaps finish with a 'hopes and dreams' page.

HTH!

3. Write memories like:

favorite places you went or like to go to

favorite meal you cooked or cooked together or a funny dining or cooking experience

good times with friends and family

special moments that meant a lot to you

the little things that you are thankful or grateful for

funniest thing that ever happened, or what made you laugh the most

hopes, dreams, wishes

quotes that sum up how you feel or relate to your union

love poems/quotes

favorite song lyrics

single words that say it all -- laughter, kindess, dreams, fun, fun, fun, silly etc. each word has a photo or a quick paragraph with it.

Glue an envelope to your page and add tickets, love notes, pictures, poems, quotes, in there for some hide and seek fun.

Good luck and best wishes!

4. Try using song lyrics in your next layout.

Song lyrics can be a great source of title and page inspiration for a scrapper.

Music and songs play an important part in our lives. Hearing a song again can evoke a lot of emotion, bringing back fond memories of special times, special people and special places.

Of course, different songs mean different things to different people - but you can use songs to 'tap' into those memories to create unique, and highly personal scrapbook pages.
