Can you give me some new scrapbooking embellishment ideas?

Looking to add some jazz to my scrapbook pages but don't want to use the typical embellishments like brads and simple stickers. Anyone have scrapbooking embellishment ideas that are unique and fun?

1. You should check out paper quilling for scrapbooking embellishments...you can make some really cool quilled patterns and its not all that expensive to buy the materials (although not available in most stores, so you have to get online.) Quilling is a great way to embellish your scrapbooks. If you don't know what it is, its basically coiling thin strips of paper into fun designs like quilled flowers, animals, letters, etc. I discovered it not too long ago and I think its pretty cool and definitely a neat paper embellishment for scrapbooks; plus its pretty unique! You can check it out at http://www.LearnQuilling.com and watch the free video lesson on quilling to see what I mean. Enjoy your scrapbooking! Hope that gives you a good idea to use for your pages!

2. I really like dancindh..’s quilling idea.

Some other embellishments :

Dried flowers & herbs; choose from you potpourri pile if you want them raised & scented.

You could crush an old mug, tiles or some such ceramic item & use the pieces to create both memories & designs. You could laminate them or something [coat with some SB-friendly glue] to prevent the sharp edges cutting the paper. They would make a beautiful mosaic pattern too, & can be used for the main cover.

You could also try to do it with colored glass pieces. Only, be really careful :-)

Scrap fabric, leather, wool, fleece …. Cut & glued or sewn & glued.

Rope, twine, ribbons, string, wire, coils, springs, …. Arranged in some pattern.

Calligraphy

Wood shavings, pencil shavings, squirls, crayon squirls, …

Cottonwool dipped in different colors, then dried & then arranged to make designs – great for clouds, etc.

Old greeting cards or glossy pictures cut into tiny squares & then rearranged randomly [color-coordinated, if you like] into a mosaic pattern. These would look nice as ‘frames’ for some photos too.

Origami models – they give a great 3D effect. Eg. make an origami bird, flower or boat, etc. depending on the theme of the page / book.

You could use a combo of any or all of the above to create unique landscapes, designs, etc.

For even more ideas, you could browse through the umpteen scrapbooking sites online – some even have slideshows & galleries displaying different types of SBs.

Hope some of these inspire too
All the very best & have fun :-)
