Scrapbooking - How can I make the edges of the paper look "old"?
How can I give the edges/border of the paper I use for scrapbooking an "old" or antique look?

1. I did this at school, I soaked the paper in cold tea or the edges.
2. You can stain the paper in a tea and water solution, let it dry out on the radiator, then using a lighter/gas hob, singe the edges slightly.Used to do this for history projects at school.Hope this helps!
3. Tea, you can use old tea bags still a little damp to rub across the edge of the paper. Its give it a old yellowish brown color which makes it seem older then it is but, remember not to get it to wet and let dry.

4. I use a nail file on the edges or throughout the photo or the paper then dab lightly with a black ink pad....works great and looks really cool on photos!
5. a tea bag, or burn the edges
6. If you have inks, a cool technique is as follows:
You can tear the edges to get an uneven look if you like that look.
Using a sepia colored inkpad (or whatever color you like, they sell a lot of colors just for the purpose of making things look aged), you can either run your finger lightly or a sponge lightly along the edges.
You can also use chalk for this. If you are going to buy a product especially for it, check out the Tim Holtz Distress Ink line, by Ranger. There is even one in "tea dye".
7. There are a few things you could do girl! You could of course soak it in tea like everyone else is telling you, or coffee works too for a more dramatic look. You could also burn the edges with a lighter or light a candle and do it that way. Another thing you could do is hold the paper about 4 inches from the open flame of a candle to collect the suit... It's the black chalkey stuff. That is kinda messy so I don't know how much I recommend that one, but you can do whatever you like :D Best Wishes!
