What books are good for scrapbooking beginners?

I'm new to scrapbooking and want to create a nice baby scrapbook. I already have an A3 book to fill but I want help with layouts, materials etc. A baby centered book is not necessary but if anyone could recommend a beginners book, and maybe a book that has some easy to follow ideas for layouts I would be very grateful :)

1. Try your public library. a good way to get lots of books for nothing. My library has a pretty big scrapbooking/paper crafts section. Also check out the magazines. Mine has four scrapbooking mags and you should be able to check out old issues

2. there are a lot of scrap booking magazines that can be bought in the local newsagents. I find that paper piecing books are also great. I love doing a paper piecing and adding them to my page. I find that color in books are also a great way to get different pictures for paper piecing also

3. There are many places you can get inspiration for scrapbooking. there are plenty of magazines in your local newsagents, or try Borders bookshops if you have one locally as they have a bigger choice. I wouldn't suggest buying a book, they will be quite expensive.

another place to try would be www.docrafts.co.uk they have alot of galleries of what people have done, there is also places on there to see what kind of things are available and where to buy online.

I would also suggest having a look at the QVC website, they sell many scrapbooking project packs and you will also be able to watch videos online on how the products go together.

you may find it difficult to scrapbook with the A3 book you have, I am guessing this is one of the books that you used to buy with sugar paper in? the scrapbooks that are used now are 12" x 12" paper, they have a substantial covering on them, and page protectors inside. if you take a look at the above places I have suggested you will see. much better for what you require and you will be able to pick up a baby themed kit.

4. Scrapbooking can be intimidating when you are just starting out, but it doesn't have to be. There are a few books that would be a great help to beginning scrapbookers.

A few of my favorites are "The Big Picture" by Stacy Julian, "Creative Sketches" by Becky Higgins, and "Scrapbook Page Maps" by Becky Fleck. They are not specific to baby scrapbooking and are wonderful for jumpstarting your scrapbook pages on any theme, because once you start you won't want to stop!

I also have a site devoted to scrapbooking with many areas related to beginners. You are welcome to check it out.

Good luck to you, and congratulations on the new baby!
